Minimum Qualifications Currently a permanent HIM Tech 1 or 70.1 transfer within two salary grades as approved by Civil Service.

Must be currently certified by the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) OR currently certified by the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Technician (THIT) AND have one year of full-time professional (post-RHIT) health information management experience.

Duties Description Under the supervision of the Health Information Management Technician II, including but not limited to:


• Maintain filing and filing area
• Respond to record requests
• Respond to internal and external information requests including subpoenas
• Process admissions, terminated and death records
• Maintain Master Patient cards and logs
• Enter information from the state and voluntary sectors into the Tracking and Billing System (TABS)
• Generate and distribute TABS and Crystal reports as scheduled and as requested
• Code ICD-9-CM or ICD-10
• Utilize CHOICES (electronic forms management system), Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
• Oversee record maintenance projects
• Participate on Local or Statewide Committees, as assigned
• Occasional travel to other DDSO locations for projects or OPWDD locations for local or statewide initiatives
• Perform general office functions such as sorting office mail, answering phones, copying, faxing
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Additional Comments ALL OPWDD EMPLOYEES MUST BE ELIGIBLE AND MAINTAIN ELIGIBILITY FOR FULL AND UNCONDITIONAL PARTICIPATION IN THE MEDICARE AND MEDICAID PROGRAMS. CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT WILL DEPEND ON MAINTAINING ELIGIBILITY. THE FILLING OF THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON OPWDD AND DIVISION OF BUDGET APPROVALS.
