Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree and 15 years of law enforcement experience in a local or state law enforcement/criminal justice agency. This experience must include at least five years of executive level command experience. Candidates must also possess significant and high level experience and expertise in many aspects of law enforcement including vulnerability assessments, public safety and executive protection. The incumbent of this position must also have a well-established and significant record of working with law enforcement agencies at both the state and federal levels.
Duties Description The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is recruiting for the position of Law Enforcement Liaison. The position will be responsible for facilitating the relationship between the Governor’s Executive Office and state and local police departments. The position is also intricately involved in the development and implementation of strategies aimed at the security of the Capitol and Governor’s Mansion. This includes security assessments, the policy for touring visitors, security budgetary concerns and solutions, as well as ensuring that training for Executive staff employees is current as it relates to an emergency. This position also requires the incumbent to coordinate security with state/local police and sheriff departments at venues attended by the Governor.
Additional Comments Frequent statewide travel is necessary. Must be able to meet transportation needs of the position.
This is a temporary appointment to a permanent position due to the pending approval of the position is n the exempt jurisdictional class. If appointed, you do serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.
