Minimum Qualifications For Vocational Instructor 1: 4 years of appropriate trade experience; OR an Associates degree appropriate to teaching field plus 2 of such experience; OR a Bachelors Degree appropriate to teaching field plus 1 of such experience.
For Vocational Instructor 2: In addition to meeting the above, candidates must have completed 6 credit hours toward obtaining a New York State certificate for teaching the appropriate trade specialty.
For Vocational Instructor 3: Initial certification as a teacher of trade subjects in the appropriate specialty as issued by the New York State Education Department.
For Vocational Instructor 4/SG17: Professional certificate as a teacher of trade subjects in the appropriate specialty as issued by the New York State Education Department.
Duties Description Would teach trades and skills to inmates under general supervision. Duties to include the preparation of lesson plans, course outlines, shop safety, and maintenance of tools and equipment. Would be expected to manage a classroom environment appropriately.
