Duties Description Plan and provide professional nursing care for ambulatory care patients in accordance with physician orders, federal, state and community standards of care, SHS policies and procedures within the NYS RN scope of practice.
Basic tasks include but are not limited to:
• Perform appropriate nursing assessment, nursing clinical intake and provides appropriate professional nursing care per clinical guidelines prior to provider visit with patient .
• Schedule patient appointments by assessing the patient’s chief complaint and duration of symptoms with adherence to patient appointment guidelines.
• Perform treatments as directed by the provider in an accurate and timely manner
• Ensures complete documentation in EMR.
• Administer immunizations and medications per New York State Law and Nursing regulations and per immunization compliance standards for health care professionals.
• Process medical laboratory specimens per testing, procedures, and processing guidelines.
• Function effectively in rotating nursing care assignments including team nursing, independent assignments and charge when nurse supervisor is absent.
• Adheres to community standards of care, Universal Precautions and infection control procedures.
• Responds appropriately to a medical or environmental emergency.
• Provides positive communication to patients, external and internal stakeholders in accordance with nursing standards.
• Provides appropriate supervision to licensed practical nurses.
• Participates in process improvement opportunities and demonstrates commitment to patient and staff safety.
(This is a 12 month position, Hours 9 AM - 5 PM (Academic Year) and 8AM - 4 PM (Summer Hours))
