Minimum Qualifications Bachelors Degree from any degree discipline. A financial discipline is not essential; however, candidate must have a strong interest in the financial markets with excellent quantitative and analytical skills. Preference may be given to candidates who have obtained their MBA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) credential (CFA study at any level a plus). Candidates must be New York State residents or be willing to relocate.
Duties Description Illustrative Duties:
Under the general direction of the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and Investment Senior Staff, the Junior Analyst will progress through a two-year development track designed to establish a solid foundation of investment experience. Upon completion of the program, the incumbent will have achieved the skills to become a Portfolio Analyst, Quantitative Analyst or Credit Analyst. The candidate should have an entrepreneurial spirit and drive to deliver results. In addition, candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills and possess intellectual curiosity, focus and creativity, and have a keen research instinct with creative problem-solving abilities. The candidate should also have strong quantitative and analytical skills. The candidate should be looking to build a long-term, sustainable relationship with NYSIF. There are four core areas that the candidate would experience either through rotation or via a direct placement: Quantitative Analysis; Trading; Portfolio Management; and Risk and Credit Analysis.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• As part of the Investment Department, where a vast range of financial market products are bought and sold which include bonds, money markets, securitized instruments etc., the candidate will be required to assist with the management of portfolios by helping to price the portfolios, preparing reports and forecasts. The candidate will assist in the origination, execution and structuring of transactions. Working with Risk Management team performing quantitative analysis, the candidate will be developing models, interfacing with other departments (finance, cash management, etc.) and running user queries utilizing systems including Bloomberg and Camra.

• Support research initiatives and research analytics
