Duties Description The Human Services, Housing and Intergovernmental Affairs Unit (HIU) oversees New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA), the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), the Department of Labor (DOL) and Division of Human Rights (DHR). The Unit is also responsible for intergovernmental coordination and policy, including oversight of local government finances and analyzing Federal legislation and policies with fiscal implications.

This internship will be part of a team responsible for execution of the Governor's Affordable Housing and Homeless plan, including coordinating and tracking the 6,000 supportive housing units committed to in the FY 2017 Enacted Budget. In addition to DOB staff, the intern will interact with staff from the State's housing agencies and authorities that are charged with promoting, preserving, and expanding the availability of affordable housing in the State. Those entities include: the Division of Housing and Community Renewal, the Housing Finance Agency, the State of New York Mortgage Agency, the Affordable Housing Corporation, and the Housing Trust Fund Corporation. The position will be integral in the implementation of a historical expansion of affordable housing that began in SFY 2017 and includes responsibilities for State Operations, Local Assistance and Capital budgets, as well as budgeting for Public Authorities.
