Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Reassignment: One year of permanent service as an Investigative Specialist 2 (Professional Conduct).

Promotion: One year of permanent service as an Investigative Specialist 1.

Non-Competitive Appointment: Candidates must have seven years of experience in conducting field investigations or investigations of medical misconduct preliminary to civil litigation or criminal prosecution. This experience must include conducting interviews of witnesses and others; preparing detailed reports of investigative findings; and testifying at administrative or criminal proceedings. One year of the experience must have been at a supervisory level.

SUBSTITUTION: An associate's degree in Criminal Justice or related field may be substituted for two years of qualifying experience. A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field may substitute for four years of qualifying experience. Related fields include: law enforcement, police science, criminal justice administration, criminology, criminal investigation, police studies, public justice, forensic accounting, forensic psychology, forensic science, and economic crime management. Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Professions is seeking candidates for an Investigative Specialist 2 (Professional Conduct) position in the Office of Professional Discipline (OPD). Under the general direction of an Investigative Specialist 4 (Professional Conduct), the Investigative Specialist 2 will supervise and inspect pharmacy functions for OPD units in Albany, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide pharmacy related training to Investigative Specialists, including pharmacy inspections and pharmacy investigations;
• Coordinate with the New York State Board for Pharmacy for all matters related to the pharmacy profession;
• Conduct supervisory reviews of all pharmacy investigations and present findings to the Violations Committees established by the Executive Secretary for the Pharmacy Board;
• Serve as liaison to both State and federal agencies regarding the pharmacy profession; and
• Complete special assignments for the Director, Division of Investigation and Investigative Specialist 4 (Professional Conduct) as needed.
• Conducts field investigations of complex and important cases

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent non-competitive appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. The position will be filled within one of the listed locations. Filling of this position is contingent upon Division of the Budget approval.

*Leads to a maximum salary of $87,351 based on annual performance advances.
