Minimum Qualifications Be a qualified employee of New York State and have had one year permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Plant Utilities Engineer 2 or be eligible for a 70.1 transfer.
Provisional Qualifications (Promotional):
One year permanent competitive or 55b/55c service as a Plant Utilities Engineer 1.
Duties Description • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, test and calibrate mechanical and electrical equipment providing heat, hot water, ventilation, air conditioning and electrical distribution in a safe and efficient manner.
• Make recommendations on major overhauls and replacement of equipment and identify, recommend and develop energy conservation projects.
• Supervise subordinate staff in the operation and maintenance of heating facilities and mechanical equipment.
• Supervise contractors in an emergency or project situation and be required to assume responsibility for operations of the overall physical plant.
