Minimum Qualifications Formal Qualifications

• An Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university, or one recognized by the New York State Education Department as following acceptable educational practices and one year of related work experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, as determined by the Corporation.
• Valid New York State driver’s license as travel is necessary to visit client communities.

Knowledge/Skills

• Familiarity with office procedures and equipment including computers, photocopiers, facsimile machines, etc.
• Keyboarding skills and experience with Microsoft packages, Word and Excel.
• Ability to understand and use common office filing systems and processes.
• Ability to work independently.
• Prioritizing and time and organizational management;
• Performing multiple tasks;
• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor and the general public sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Duties Description Under the direction of the Manager of Green Policy, Planning and Infrastructure, the Environmental Program Specialist will provide para-professional level assistance primarily to clients related to the Green Innovation Grant Program.

Essential Job Functions

• Establish and maintain relationships with clients in order to promote the efficient and effective delivery of project/program services to include providing program information, assisting with program processes, and responding to client requests.

• Review documentation, including applications, contracts, and disbursement requests, for completeness and adherence to project or program guidelines and make recommendations for program actions concerning same.

• Track and monitor projects using databases, spreadsheets and other tools and recommend tracking adjustments, as necessary.

• Prepare and maintain files pertaining to program and projects.

• Coordinate information with various divisions regarding grant program determinations.

• Assist with preparing presentations and brochures, coordinating mailings, and handling program contacts via telephone and electronic mail.

• Assist with the preparation of letters, memoranda, and other correspondence to staff, municipalities, and other outside entities regarding the grant process.
