Minimum Qualifications Ten years of progressively responsible professional experience in an insurance industry setting performing functions such as claims, underwriting, policyholder services/marketing. Three years of this experience must have been at a management/supervisory level.
A bachelor’s degree may substitute for up to four years of experience.
Must be a resident of New York State or willing to relocate.
Duties Description The selected candidate will exhibit strong financial ability; effective communication and presentation skills; and the ability to interact with all levels of management and agency staff.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Plan, coordinate, direct and oversee the activities of the disability benefits fund, including Paid Family Leave.
• Establish, monitor and adjust pricing using underwriting information to calculate appropriate premium for specific exposures.
• Monitor and oversee the financial condition of the Disability Benefits Fund considering the current financial status, future risk scenarios and solvency.
• Meet with policyholders and/or their representatives, industry associations, safety groups etc.
• Prepare and supervise the preparation of the Disability Benefit’s annual operating budget.
• Oversee the continuation of automated systems for the disability benefits program. Develop and assist with on-going improvements to website functionality.
