Minimum Qualifications Eligible to be appointed from the Civil Service list for Office Assistant 1 (Stores/Mail) OR
Eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law - candidates must have permanent status in a title approved for transfer by Civil Service within two salary grades of the Grade 6 level OR
Eligible for reinstatement to state service in a title equivalent to Office Assistant 1 (Stores/Mail) OR
Section 55b/c candidate
The Beginning Office Assistant eligible list is also used to fill this title. If you are on this list, you may receive a canvass letter.
55b/c eligible candidates are also encouraged to apply.
The preferred candidate will have the ability to operate and maintain office equipment and systems and the ability to drive an 18,000-pound truck.
Duties Description • Research and prepare orders for tools, materials, and supplies needed for warehouse stock and tasks.
• Complete orders for needed supplies and submit to Director of Administrative Services.
• Assist in maintaining accurate asset inventory.
• Responsible for loading, unloading and physically handling equipment, furniture, supplies, etc.
This will require the operation of fork lifts, hand trucks, power jacks, and other types of moving equipment.
• Responsible for assembly, disassembly and/or modifications to modular furniture systems, as well as the maintenance and repair of furniture. Requires the use of power tools.
• Responsible for the assembly, disassembly and/or modifications to warehouse commercial shelving system. Requires the use of both power tools as well as moving equipment.
• Must be able to lift and carry a 65-pound box of paper.
• Must possess a valid NYS Driver's license.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Must be willing to work overtime and to travel.
