Salary RangeFrom $44564 to $56888 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Must have a current certification as a New York State Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC); OR a current certification as a New York State Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor Trainee (CASAC-T) and one year post certification qualifying experience; OR three years of qualifying experience. An Associate's Degree (or higher) in an **approved area may be substituted for two years experience. Which consists of professional or paraprofessional experience in a program whose primary mission is alcohol and/or substance abuse treatment. Your experience must include all of the following functions: Individual or group counseling, intake/assessment, treatment planning, case work, consultation and the development of substance use disorder diagnostic impression. **Approved Associate's or higher degree areas for this exam are: Anthropology, Audiology, Child Development/Family Relations, Community Mental Health, Chemical Dependence Administration, Correctional Study, Counseling/Guidance, Criminal Justice, Education, Gerontology, Health Administration, Health Education, Human Services, Nursing, Nutrition, Pastoral Counseling, Psychology, Public Justice, Rehabilitation Counseling, Religious Studies, Social Work, Sociology, Special Education, Speech Pathology, Therapy, and Vocational Counseling.
Duties Description Conduct individual screening interview and record findings. Participate in developing presentations on substance use disorders, coordinate presentations on substance use disorder educational material to facility staff. Educate inmate clients to understand nature of substance abuse, provide individual and group counseling to inmate clients, conduct orientation for newly admitted participants, interview participants, conduct group meetings, determine appropriate remedy and/or sanction when participant breaks program standard, establish a record for every participant, complete admission and comprehensive evaluations, record specific treatment events and develop substance abuse treatment plans, evaluation of progress notes, and continuing recovery plans. Record the nature and outcome.
