Minimum Qualifications • Must be currently permanent in the title of Senior Licensed Practical Nurse 2;
OR
• Must be active and reachable on the appropriate Civil Service eligible list for Senior Licensed Practical Nurse 2;
OR
• Must be eligible for 70.1 transfer by way of current permanent status in a title deemed comparable by the NYS Department of Civil Service to the Senior Licensed Practical Nurse 2 AND meet the minimum qualifications as noted on the exam announcement*

*Must possess a License to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State and one year of permanent competitive service as a Licensed Practical Nurse 1.

Duties Description • Functions as the overall supervisor on the day shift for Mt. Ivy IRA, a 24-hour enhanced nursing site serving 14 individuals with complex medical/nursing needs.
• Supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Developmental Aides in the care or custody of individuals.
• Carries out individual treatment plans by effectively deploying staff, scheduling and integrating activities and observing reactions to such activities.
• Participates with the treatment team in the development of individual treatment plans for clients.
• Responds by taking quick decisive action in the event of medical emergencies, including accidents.
• May perform the activities of a Licensed Practical Nurse in caring for individuals.

Notes on ApplyingSenior Licensed Practical Nurses are supervised by registered nurses in the performance of nursing tasks. These supervisors provide the Senior Licensed Practical Nurse with specific instructions and guidelines in the implementation of individual treatment plans. Administrative supervision may be provided by Treatment Team Leaders, residential unit supervisors and other health care professionals.

A Senior Licensed Practical Nurse 2 performs the same basic clinical activities and tasks as a Senior Licensed Practical Nurse 1; however, their degree of experience and expertise allows for participation in the development of treatment plans, and for supervision of staff; may supervise direct care staff in homes serving 6 or more individuals with complex medical/nursing needs.
