Minimum Qualifications Permanent status as a Training Specialist 2 (Addictions), G-23, and interested in reassignment ~ OR ~ Reachable for permanent appointment from the current Civil Service eligible list for Staff Development Specialist 2 (Addictions), G-23 ~ OR~ Eligible for transfer via Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law ~ OR~
Eligible for a provisional appointment by meeting the following qualifications: Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree or higher in a human services field and three (3) years of experience in staff development and training in the addictions field. Experience must include developing addictions and/or substance abuse curricula and organizing and delivering such curricula to human services professionals. Qualifying experience must have been exclusively or predominately in the area of addictions and/or substance abuse. Mainstream classroom teaching or clinical group counseling outside of an addictions setting are not considered qualifying.

Duties Description The incumbent will manage training projects, supervise staff, and develop and deliver competency-based online and classroom training programs for workers in the OASAS service delivery system; manage the planning and implementation of OASAS-supported Train-the-Trainer programs; manage training contracts and oversee the quality and relevance of training provided by consultants and contractors; provide consultation/technical assistance and approve training program content, format, method of delivery and visual aids provided by other professionals to assure quality and relevant content in support of OASAS’ professional credentials. A demonstrated history of strong supervision, technical, and project management skills, as well as the ability to work independently and meet deadlines are required for the position. Travel is required.
