Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Reassignment: One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Senior Librarian (Technical Processes).

Eligible List Appointment: Candidates who are reachable on the Senior Librarian (Technical Process) or Librarian 1 eligible list may be considered for appointment.

Duties Description The Office of Cultural Education is seeking candidates for a Senior Librarian (Technical Processes) position within the New York State Library (NYSL). Under the direction of the Associate Librarian (Technical Processes), the incumbent of this position will be responsible for the procurement and receipt of library materials for the NYSL collections. The incumbent of this position will also manage daily operations involving acquisitions and serial control activities. Other duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Oversee placement of orders for monographs, serials, online databases, microfilms, e-books and manuscript materials, as requested, by subject bibliographers and the Collections Development Committee;
• Manage the receipt of new and gift materials;
• Review and process invoices while following State rules, regulations and procedures;
• Maintain financial records in the NYSL SirsiDynix online library system;
• Produce financial reports to track allocations, encumbrances and expenditures for all subject areas;
• Contact vendors with order, receipt and invoicing problems and resolve issues;
• Oversee and prepare monthly and annual statistics;
• Monitor State contracts for changes in vendor and publisher information, contract numbers, expiration of contracts and check for new vendors and publisher contacts, as appropriate;
• Monitor database renewals; and
• Prepare reports and documentation for book budget approvals.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions may change an appointees’ negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance and other benefits. Verification of degree and/or transcripts will be required for all candidates at the time of interview. The work schedule for this position includes flexible hours of Monday through Friday (8:00am – 5:00pm) with rotating Saturdays (9:15am – 5:15pm).

The salary listed above applies to candidates appointed to Senior Librarian (Technical Process), SG-19. The hiring rate for candidates appointed to Librarian 1 starts at $48,027 and for current NYS employees, is based on the candidate’s salary at the time of hire. Appointments made from the Library 1 eligible list will serve a two-year traineeship leading to the SG-19 salary level.

*Leads to a maximum salary of $75,785 based on annual performance advances.
