Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service OR 55 b/c service as Senior Auditor OR reachable on the Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list OR have one year of permanent competitive service or 55 b/c service in a title eligible for transfer under section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Appointments made from the PCO list requires completion of a two-year traineeship. Candidates with a score of 100 or higher on the current PCO eligible list who are eligible for appointment are encouraged to apply. Please note your score of the exam in your cover letter.
Duties Description Under the direction of an Associate Auditor, conduct audits of OCFS internal operations or audits of external entities/programs that OCFS oversees. These audits may include evaluation of an auditee's internal controls, accountability and integrity; evaluation of an auditee's ability to carry out its responsibilities economically, efficiently and effectively; and/or evaluation of an auditee's ability to accomplish its objectives consistent with its policies, procedures, and mandates. Senior Auditor responsibilities include:
• Assisting with the development of an audit plan and audit program that appropriately consider relevant risk factors and applicable laws, rules and regulations.
• Assisting with the completion of sections of the audit program, including conducting interviews, performing various tests, reviews, reconciliations, and evaluations of accounts, claims, records, and procedures to ensure that transactions are processed and properly accounted for and effective controls are in place. This includes the completion of the audit work papers for purpose, source, methodology, work completed and appropriate conclusions.
• Assisting with development of audit findings and the completion of the cross-referenced draft and final audit reports.
