Minimum Qualifications A. Education
A master’s degree in a mental hygiene discipline (occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, psychology, recreation therapy, rehabilitation counseling, education, and nursing), hospital/health administration, or other administrative area specifically related to health care, sociology, statistics, or quantitative research, or a license to practice medicine in NYS or Canada.

B. Experience

Seven (7) years of experience in a mental health program or health care setting that includes four (4) years of managerial experience in at least three (3) quality management component areas such as program evaluation, clinical risk management, standards compliance, survey readiness, utilization review, or a closely related area.

Substitutions:

Managerial experience in only two (2) of the quality management component areas noted above requires an additional year of such experience; managerial experience in only one (1) of the quality management component areas noted above requires an additional two (2) years of such experience.

A license to practice medicine or a doctoral degree may substitute for one (1) year of the general experience.

Additionally, all candidates must be eligible to participate in Federal health care programs (e.g., Medicaid). Individuals excluded from participation in these programs will not be considered.

Duties Description Under the general direction of the Director, Psychiatric Research Institute and in close collaboration with the Deputy Director, Psychiatric Research Institute and Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 2 - Administration, the DDPC 2 – Quality Management participates in developing, implementing, interpreting, and evaluating facility goals and policies to support quality management through providing quality care and clinical treatment by focusing on such areas as outcome measurements, treatment plans, and cultural and linguistic competence standards. The DDPC 2 – Quality Management is responsible for the oversight of the facility’s overall Quality Management Program which includes program evaluation, incident review, institutional review board, risk management, utilization review, consumer satisfaction, survey readiness, medical records, discipline standards, professional growth and development, standards compliance, cultural competence, and performance improvement.

Additional Comments Salary: $132,528 - $166,696; Plus $3,026 Location Pay

New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI) is seeking candidates for the position of Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 2 – Quality Management (DDPC 2 – Quality Management).

NYSPI is a State-operated research facility at which world-renowned scientists conduct research in biomedicine, neuroscience, experimental therapeutics, clinical interventions, and mental health services relevant to patients with mental illness. Since its inception, NYSPI has been at the forefront of psychiatry, making major contributions to the clinical care and understanding of individuals with mental illness. Located in Manhattan overlooking the Hudson River and George Washington Bridge, NYSPI provides a state-of-the art environment for patient care, education, and research. The Institute is also the primary location of research and education activities for the Columbia University Department of Psychiatry and is affiliated with New York Presbyterian Hospital.
