Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree and five years of professional experience in natural resources planning or regional planning with responsibility for analyzing proposals. This experience must include two years of supervisory experience.

Duties Description The position directs and supervises Agency project review, research, and field work through oversight and coordination of the staff in the areas of engineering, soil science, forestry analysis, wetland protection, and water quality analysis. The supervisor maintains and applies scientific information to evaluate the environmental impact on pending actions, proposed projects, regulations and policies. The supervisor manages staff work in the Resource Analysis and Scientific Services unit to ensure a high level of integration with the Agency's planning, legal, enforcement and regulatory services and provides strategic planning assistance within the Agency. The supervisor provides scientific background and material to advise the agency on policy and legislative issues in areas such as aquatic invasive species, wetlands, and climate change. The supervisor participates in outreach in the area of environmental education. The supervisor leads the staff team to address ecological trends and analyses and develops outside funding sources and partnerships with other agencies and organizations. The supervisor provides oversight to the Agency’s management of the Wetlands Program. The supervisor can serve as the primary liaison and coordinator to the Federal Environmental Protection Agency when federal funding is involved. The supervisor serves as the agency liaison with other groups performing natural resource analysis within the boundaries of the Adirondack Park. The position reports directly to the Executive Director and supervises the staff of the Research Analysis and Scientific Services Division.

Additional Comments This is a provisional appointment pending a NYS Department of Civil Service examination and Waiver from the NYS Division of Budget.
