Eligible for a lateral transfer, or a 70.1 transfer by having one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service in an appropriate title.

Eligible for a lateral transfer, or a 70.1 transfer by having one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service in an appropriate title.
NOTE: Candidates who are currently reachable on an appropriate eligible list for the Temporary Assistance Specialist 1 or the PCO in Albany need not submit an application for this posting unless they are applying directly as a result of the transfer qualifications listed above.
Duties Description This Temporary Assistance Specialist 1 position is located in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) State Processing Center (SPC), within Employment and Income Support Programs (EISP). This position will serve as line staff performing case work in the recertification of SNAP cases. These workers make eligibility determinations for the continuation of SNAP benefits (i.e. recertifications), and are subject to review by SNAP Processing Center supervisors to prevent fraud, ensure auditing requirements are met and to maintain quality case processing standards.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
•Determining and documenting interview appointment dates and times.
•Generating recertification notices, applications and accompanying instructions.
•Monitoring, and recording when necessary, receipt and non-receipt of applications within required time frames.
•Preparing, conducting and documenting client interviews.
•Preparing SNAP budgets and revising budgets as appropriate.
•Analyzing SNAP recertification applications to determine the changes that need to be made to the case.
•Making accurate SNAP eligibility determinations based on federal and state policy.
•Other specialized tasks as necessary such as imaging documents in an on-site model system (OSS), serving as liaison with local district contacts and fair hearings staff and serving to answer customer inquiries and complaints concerning cases processed by the SPC.
Additional Comments Appointment to this position is contingent upon Division of Budget approval to fill. A full-time, permanent or contingent permanent appointment will be made. If certified by Civil Service, mandatory reemployment list candidates must be considered first for appointment to this title.
Salary for Trainee 1 is $42,986.
