Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Required for Permanent Appointment:
Current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service as a Professional Engineer 1 (Civil/Construction);
Possession of a NYS Professional Engineer’s license with current registration is required.

55b/c Eligible Candidates:
Candidates who are currently 55b/c eligible AND meet the minimum qualifications below may apply for this position. A New York State Professional Engineer’s license and current registration AND:
a bachelor’s degree or higher in Architectural Engineering, Architectural Engineering Technology, Building Engineering, Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Management, Construction Engineering Management Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Power Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Engineering Technology, Environmental Design Engineering, Environmental Resources Engineering, Environmental Systems Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed engineering degrees;
OR
one year of engineering experience related to construction project supervision of the structural and architectural elements of the building.
Duties Description Duties include but may not be limited to:
• Inspect and supervise large complex building construction projects for conformity to specification and standards.
• Review and sign off on plans, specifications and estimates.
• Recommend and authorize change orders due to local conditions, materials shortage, or unforeseen circumstance.
• Supervise engineers and consultants and provide project management and technical supervision to consultant engineers.
• May assist in the design process and rehabilitation of large, complex and new building construction projects.
• Some travel required.
