Minimum Qualifications Budget Fellow must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree. Starting salaries depend upon level of education and type of work experience, and annual salary increases are dependent on satisfactory performance:

• Budget Fellow I: $46,496 - A Bachelor’s degree. Advances to Budget Fellow II after one (1) year of satisfactory service.

• Budget Fellow II: $50,914 – A Master’s degree in public administration, economics, business administration, public policy, public affairs or a closely related administrative or managerial field; or, a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience including one (1) year in public administration. Advances to Budget Fellow III after one year of satisfactory service.

• Budget Fellow III: $55,082 – A Master’s degree as specified for Budget Fellow II and one (1) year of professional budgeting experience within a governmental jurisdiction; or, a Master’s degree in any field and two (2) years of professional work experience including one (1) year in public administration; or, a Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of professional work experience including one (1) year of public administration. Eligible for annual salary increases based on performance.

Candidates should have strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills; the ability to think creatively and strategically to define and solve problems; and the ability to work both independently and on a team. Logistics and/or operations and performance management experience preferred.

Duties Description Incumbent(s) will be responsible for analysis, as well as internal coordinative roles, related to emergency preparedness, response, and recovery and resiliency:

• Provide coordination and oversight within DOB to ensure State agency vehicle purchasing and fleet management are reviewed in the broader context of the State’s potentially-deployable assets.
• Develop guidelines and serving as a resource to DOB line unit staff in the review of agency spending requests, as well as investment and planning.
• Serve as the DOB liaison with DHSES/OEM and Chamber Public Safety, including participating as DOB’s designee for Multi-Agency Calls (MAC) and pre-event planning discussions.
• Coordinate DOB guidance, including the tracking of resources and spending related to disaster recovery.
• Perform on-site audits and information gathering, periodically or as needed.
