Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications 70.1 Transfer: You may be eligible for Section 70.1 transfer to Budget Analyst Trainee 1 or 2 if you have one year of contingent-permanent or permanent competitive service in a transfer eligible title.
OR
52.6 Transfer: You may be eligible for Section 52.6 transfer to Senior Budget Analyst, SG-18 if you have one year of contingent-permanent or permanent competitive service in a Grade 16 or above title designated as administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
OR
70.4 Transfer to Trainee 1 level: Applicants who have one year of contingent-permanent or permanent competitive service in a Grade 11 or above title; have a Bachelor’s degree, and have taken and passed the Professional Careers Test (PCT) or Public Administration Transition Test (PATT). Those applying under this option must complete and submit a Form NYS-APP, application for New York State Examination.

Duties Description The incumbent will perform a variety of budget related duties, including but not limited to:
•Conduct studies of program areas to develop budget estimates and justifications
•Prepare statistical, narrative or analytical reports
•Review and analyze new legislation, new programs and proposed changes to existing programs
•Develop hiring plans for assigned program areas
•Maintain the budget reporting system
•Assist with the preparation of the agency budget requests
•Review and evaluate prior year expenditures
•Prepare written presentations for agency staff
•Compile workload statistics for budget justification
•Submit waivers and exemptions on the NYSTEP waiver and/or exemption tracking system and notify managers of approvals
•Retrieve, analyze and present information from the financial management systems
