Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Psychiatrist 2, SG-38:
Salary: $261,361
License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State AND certification in general psychiatry by the ABPN.
Limited Permit Option: You may be eligible for appointment to Psychiatrist 2 if you have licensure in another state or Canada AND a current limited permit to practice medicine in New York State. If appointed, you must obtain your license within one year of the date your limited permit was issued. Failure to do so will result in removal from your position.
Duties Description The selected candidate will serve as Attending Psychiatrist and will provide supervisory oversight and clinical care on the 12-bed inpatient clinical research Eating Disorders Unit. The mission of this unit, which is part of the Metro NY Comprehensive Care Center for Eating Disorders and is recognized as a Center of Excellence, is to deliver superior evidence-based patient care; support state-of-the-art mental health research activities; and educate medical students, psychiatric residents, and psychology interns and externs in the treatment of individuals with severe eating disorders. The Attending will provide direct psychiatric care to patients admitted to the EDU and will supervise post-graduate trainees in the diagnosis and treatment of individuals with severe eating disorders.
NOTE:
1. In order to be eligible for appointment and to maintain employment, you cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program). If you are appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists (or excluded from any other Federal or federally assisted program), you may be terminated from your employment.
2. If appointed you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.
3. License and Certification: Loss of license or limited permit to practice medicine in New York State or board certification, if required, may result in removal from your position.

This position is eligible for the Downstate Adjustment of $3,400.
