Minimum Qualifications For Provisional Appointment:

You must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an Environmental Analyst 3.

For Permanent Appointment:

Reassignment – Currently in the title and an employee of DEC.

OR

Reinstatement Eligible – Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.

OR

Transfer Eligible – One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 29/M3 or higher and: Eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 within two salary grades/one M grade of this position. To determine if your title is designated as 52.6 go to the Department of Civil Service website and search for your title under GOT-IT.

Duties Description Establish goals, objectives and priorities for DEP R1 and assure they are met. Manage and coordinate the responsibilities of DEP R1. Ensure all activities necessary for the effective management of the permitting operations are carried out. Oversee the development and implementation of permitting procedures in response to major initiatives and new regulations and provide direction to staff. Establish staffing priorities and manage the hiring process for DEP R1. Manage budgeting and purchasing priorities. Oversee the management of projects of statewide and regional importance. Maintain strong working relationships with other Federal, State and local agencies. Respond to complex internal and external requests for information and/or resolution of problems. Supervise EA3's and administrative staff.

Additional Comments Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.
