Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Transfer:
Candidates must be permanent in the Mental Health Program Specialist 2 Clinical title and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Non-Competitive Appointment:
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in a health or human services area and three years of professional clinical experience in a mental health program.
A master's degree in child and family studies, counseling and community psychology, creative arts therapy, criminal justice, health administration, hospital administration, marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling, nursing, psychoanalysis, psychology, public administration, public health, public policy, recreation therapy, rehabilitation counseling, social work, sociology, or special education can substitute for one year of specialized experience.
Duties Description The Mental Health Program Specialist 2 (Clinical) provides clinical support to Sustained Engagement Support (SES) Outreach Specialists with the goal of helping reengage adults who have disengaged from State Operated outpatient treatment and will:
Provide clinical input on SES-Transition to Home Unit (THU) cases to support Housing and Care Team providers in reengaging individuals who have not been stably housed and who are at risk of disengagement. The goal is to increase the likelihood those individuals will sustain integration into their community in a way that is meaningful to them.
Conduct quality assurance activities to analyze Sustained Engagement Support (SES) outreach and engagement efforts and to analyze SES-THU coordination efforts.
Provide guidance to SES Outreach Specialists around identifying barriers to treatment, ideas for reengagement, risk factors, and treatment/resource referral options.
Provide consultation to State Operated outpatient staff to help programs reengage individuals by overcoming barriers to treatment including using motivational interviewing, stages of change and person-centered/recovery orientations.
Provide supervision to SES Outreach Specialists.
