Minimum Qualifications: For qualified employees of New York State, candidates must be licensed and registered to practice psychology in New York State AND you must have had twelve months permanent competitive or 55-b/55 c service as a Psychologist 2, Associate Psychologist, or Licensed Psychologist.

Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Principal Psychologist primarily provides extensive regulatorily required forensic services including assessments for CPL 730 status, CPL 330 status, and Article 15 involuntary retentions as well as a number of less common forensic issues such as Affidavits for Jackson Relief. The incumbent must also travel anywhere in the state to testify in legal proceedings in support of these clinical evaluations. The incumbent also provides a full range of psychological services, training, and consultation services to clinical teams, direct support staff, and individuals as needed.

• Conducts frequent and intensive forensic and other evaluations as required for the individuals residing in the Sunmount DDSO including but not limited to: CPL 730, Article 15, CPL 330 evaluations, and affidavits for Jackson Relief.
o Typical caseload includes 6-8 forensic assessments per month including completing a full forensic written report and then traveling as required for any associated court hearings.
• Works closely with OPWDD Counsel Office on all legal matters for the individuals residing in the Sunmount DDSO
• Works closely with attorneys in various Offices of the Attorney General and with multiple District Attorneys across the state to manage legal cases for individuals residing in the Sunmount DDSO
• Interacts routinely with attorneys from the Mental Hygiene Legal Services
• Travels to frequent court hearings in support of forensic evaluations completed for individuals residing in the Sunmount DDSO
• Serves as legal resource for the Behavior Review Committee which reviews behavior support plans, behavior analysis plans, and all restrictive interventions.
• Serves as a legal resource for the Local Forensic Risk Committee, which reviews behavior support plans for all individuals for legal and forensic safety and treatment issues
• Provides routine supervision and consultation for master’s level clinicians serving individuals with legal status residing in the Sunmount DDSO
• Consults with treatment teams for legally required services, interventions and treatment planning
• Provides routine consultation for court procedures instructors on the Sunmount campus
• Completes guardianship assessments and documentation as needed
• Completes end of life care assessments and documentation as needed
• Required participant in after-hours coverage rotation for forensic emergencies including sign-outs from the Sunmount campus
• Other duties as assigned
