Minimum Qualifications Open to current NYS employees:
Candidates must be reachable for appointment on the appropriate Civil Service eligible list;
OR
Candidates must have permanent status as a Business Officer 2 and be eligible for lateral transfer;
OR
Candidates must be eligible for transfer via Section 52.6 or 70.1 of the Civil Service Law by having at least one year of permanent service in a qualifying title;
OR
Provisional Opportunity:
In the event that there is not a valid eligible list, candidates who meet the following promotion qualifications may be qualified for a provisional appointment:
One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Business Officer 1 or Head Account Clerk.
If you are appointed provisionally, you must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title and your score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before you can be permanently appointed. If you do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score, you may not be retained.
Duties Description As a Business Officer 2, you would function as the principal assistant to a Business Officer 4 providing management direction and control of business administration, fiscal and support service activities. Under direction, you will coordinate activities with clinical program supervisors to ensure they are supportive of facility treatment objectives. Within this framework incumbents plan, organize, direct, and control the principal activities of all support departments (excluding the facility Personnel Office); oversee the preparation of the facility’s annual other than personal service (OTPS) budget requests and the personnel service budget requests for support departments; oversee the expenditures of accounting for funds appropriated in the annual budget; prepare and monitor facility contracts with other providers of support or clinical services; and assist clinical program supervisors with the evaluation, utilization, leasing and control of program space on and off the facility campus and/or community operations settings.
