Job Specifics
Duties Description As a Treatment Team Leader Mental Hygiene, you will have program and administrative responsibility for the treatment activities of an interdisciplinary treatment team and will direct and coordinate a total program tailored to the individual needs of clients. You will be responsible for: assigning team resources to accomplish goals; evaluating team programs; supervising the maintenance of medical and other records and files pertinent to the treatment and care of patients; participating in planning and program development to influence treatment and therapeutic programs; serving on committees such as placement, utilization review, and medical records review; and preparing periodic performance evaluations of subordinates.

If appointed you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicaid and Medicare, you may be terminated from your employment.
Minimum Qualifications Open to qualified employees of New York State:
Candidates must be reachable for appointment from the current Civil Service eligible list for the title;
OR
Transfer Opportunity – Candidates must have permanent status as a Treatment Team Leader Mental Health M-1 and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Sections 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. To be eligible for transfer under Sections 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a title approved for transfer by the Department of Civil Service within two salary grades or one M-grade of the M-1 level.

In the event there is no viable Civil Service list, a provisional appointment may be made. You must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of Mental Health and have had one year permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in one of the titles listed below:

Chief Occupational Therapist, Chief Physical Therapist, Chief Recreational Therapist, Coordinator Intensive Case Management Services, Education Director 1, Education Director 2, Education Supervisor (General), Head Occupational Therapist, Head Physical Therapist, Head Recreation Therapist, Licensed Psychologist (and all parenthetics), Mental Hygiene Nursing Program Coordinator, Nurse Administrator 1, Nurse Administrator 2, Nurse Administrator 1 (Psychiatric), Nurse Administrator 2 (Psychiatric), Residential Program Manager 2, Residential Program Manager 3, Residential Program Manager 4, Social Work Supervisor 1 (and all parenthetics), Social Work Supervisor 1 LCSW (and all parenthetics), Speech Language Pathology Audiology Program Coordinator 1, Speech Language Pathology Audiology Program Coordinator 2, Supervisor Rehabilitation Services (and all parenthetics).
Group 2:
Associate Psychologist (and all parenthetics), Audiologist 1, Audiologist 2, Community Mental Health Nurse (and all parenthetics), Infection Control Nurse, Intensive Case Manager (and all parenthetics), Licensed Master Social Worker 1 (and all parenthetics), Licensed Master Social Worker 2 (and all parenthetics), Mental Hygiene Staff Development Specialist 3 (Nursing), Nurse 2 (and all parenthetics), Nurse 3 (and all parenthetics), Nurse Practitioner (and all parenthetics), Physician Assistant, Psychologist 1, Psychologist 2 (and all parenthetics), Rehabilitation Counselor 1, Rehabilitation Counselor 2 (and all parenthetics), Residential Program Manager 1, Senior Occupational Therapist, Senior Physical Therapist, Senior Recreation Therapist (and all parenthetics), Senior Speech and Hearing Therapist, Social Work Assistant 3, Speech Language Pathologist 1, Speech Language Pathologist 2, Teacher 4 (and all parenthetics), Training Specialist 1 (Nursing), and Utilization Review Coordinator.

Candidates appointed provisionally must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title, and their score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before they can be permanently appointed. Candidates who do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score may not be retained.
