Job Specifics

Duties Description Under the general direction of the Director of Employment Services the Assistant Director of Employment Services oversees the statewide Career Center System and related programs. The duties include, but are not limited to:

- Direct, organize and plan the implementation of State and Federal Career Center System policies, procedures, standards and guidelines relating to the Division's responsibilities.

- Direct and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the State Career System, ensuring uniform implementation.

- Oversee the supervision, evaluation and performance of Career Center staff.

- Oversee Career Center technology and systems, equipment and physical space.

- Represent the Commissioner, Executive Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and/or Director at meetings affecting service delivery policies with local, state and federal officials, businesses and not-for profit organizations.

- Represent the Governor's office, Commissioner, Executive Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner or Director in administering, managing and/or directing special projects including Task Force activities.

- Serve on collaborative teams to assist in streamlining systems and coordinating disaster recovery initiatives.

52.6 Transfer Qualifications:
One year of permanent or contingent-permanent as a Grade M-4 or higher determined to be administrative by Civil Service.

52.7 Non-Competitive Promotion (NCP) Qualifications: (DOL EMPLOYEES ONLY)
To be eligible for NCP, candidates must be in the Department of Labor promotion field and have one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service as a Employment Services Manager 1 (M-1), Employment Services Manager 2 (M-2), Employment Services Manager 3 (M-3), or Community Services Center Manager 4. If 3 or fewer qualified Department of Labor the qualifying service described above respond to this posting, Civil Service may approve the permanent appointment to the Assistant Director of Employment Services (M-5) without further examination.

Note: Non-competitive refers to not competing in an examination; the appointment will be competitive.

Provisional Qualifications: (DOL EMPLOYEES ONLY)
One year of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service as an Employment Services Manager 1 (M-1), Employment Services Manager 2 (M-2), Employment Services Manager 3 (M-3), or Community Services Center Manager 4. The appointed candidate would have to take, pass and be reachable on the next holding of the examination to be appointed permanently.

Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.

Additional Comments Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evenings and/or out-stationed assignments.
