Job Specifics

Duties Description • Provide non-engineering guidance to regulated entities, the public, and municipalities with respect to Part 350, 360, and 370 Series regulations. Research the answer to questions and provide guidance in accordance with applicable regulations.

• Prepare responses to FOIL requests and coordinate outreach events.

• Manage data for the division, such as the status of enforcement cases, permit applications, and other submittals, as well as statewide division databases.

• Process annual reports submitted by facilities and municipalities.

• Manage division expenditures and ensure compliance with department financial requirements.

• Evaluate non-technical submittals from regulated entities for deficiencies and assist staff in obtaining corrections to the submittals.

• Collect, tabulate, and analyze data as appropriate to draw conclusions, including preparation of any required reports. This may include assisting technical staff with field assignments.

• Prepare documentation for enforcement cases.

Essential Functions:

Must be able to work effectively with engineers, geologists, and other technical staff. Must be able to clearly communicate, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to work effectively independently and with others in a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC
or

Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
or

Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 11 or higher and:

Transfer eligible under Section 70.1 - permanent competitive service as an Accountant Aide, Accountant Aide Trainee 2, Business Document Specialist 2, Stores & Mail Operations Supervisor, Principal Mail and Supply Clerk, Principal Offset Print Machine Operator, Principal Stores Clerk, Program Aide, Administrative Assistant 1.
Additional titles SG 11 or higher which qualify can be found on the Department of Civil Service website, search "GOT-IT".

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in remote areas.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Travel may be required.
Overtime may be required.
Overnight travel may be required.
Must be available for emergency response.
Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies.
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.
