Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries, marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.
Duties Description Position 1: This item will assist R6 Fisheries in our Coldwater research and management program specifically our Adirondack Brook Trout liming and reclamation project. Field work includes work on many remote ponds. Also, operating boats, outboard motors, trailers, canoes and various fish sampling equipment. Some work will be physically demanding (e.g. hiking with backpacks, portaging and paddling canoes, stream electrofishing and ability to carry up to 50 pounds). Some overnight travel and wilderness camping required. Field work will be required in inclement weather, including extremes in temperature and precipitation. Freshwater fish sampling and identification as well as data transcription and entry into data bases experience is necessary.
Position 2: This item will assist R6 Fisheries and our statewide Rare Fish Unit. Field work includes work on remote ponds, lakes and streams. Also, operating boats, outboard motors, trailers, canoes and various fish sampling equipment. Some work will be physically demanding (e.g. hiking with backpacks, portaging and paddling canoes, stream electrofishing and ability to carry up to 50 pounds). Frequent overnight travel statewide. Field work will be required in inclement weather, including extremes in temperature and precipitation. Freshwater fish sampling and identification as well as data transcription and entry into data bases experience is necessary.
Additional Comments Seasonal, hourly appointment starting in March 2015 and ending no later than 3/31/2016. Program needs will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to 3/31/2016.
Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at interview.
Anticipated hourly rate will be $15.41 pending approval.
