Job Specifics
Duties Description The incumbent of this position will work within the Scientific Programs & Research unit, reporting to a Program Analyst 2. This role will require excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with external stakeholders and support the implementation of unit initiatives. The Program Analyst 1 will assist with the development of programs and materials that support scientific programs, the advancement of cannabis research, and medical cannabis program education and outreach efforts. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Support the development of research related documents and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Monitor and track cannabis science and research policies and studies performed at the state and federal levels.
• Assist with the development of new survey instruments.
• Compose written communications, including but not limited to, reports, summaries, and publications.
• Coordinate and organize events for the Medical Cannabis Program by managing event logistics, delivering presentations, and hosting events.
• Coordinate and lead meetings with internal team members and external stakeholders, maintaining the highest standard of professionalism.
• Support the development of regulations and guidance documents within the Scientific Programs & Research unit.
• Conduct program evaluations and assessments.
• Develop presentations and materials for educational and outreach programs and events.
• Monitor and track education and outreach initiatives.
• Perform other duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications Six years of experience* in a cannabis, industrial hemp, medical marijuana, agricultural, environmental, public health, public safety, or economic development analyst position where primary responsibilities were policy or programmatic quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and/or communications.
*Substitution: A bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, agriculture science, horticulture, plant sciences, data analytics, urban studies, communications, public health, public safety, or a related field may substitute for four years of the non-supervisory experience. Master’s degree in the same fields as bachelor’s may substitute for an additional year of the non-supervisory experience.
NOTE: IN ORDER TO AWARD THE PROPER CREDIT FOR WORK EXPERIENCE, RESUMES MUST INCLUDE MONTH AND YEAR FOR START AND END DATES. IF ANY OF THIS EXPERIENCE IS LESS THAN FULL TIME YOU MUST INDICATE THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS WORKED PER WEEK.
Additional Comments NOTE:
• Travel may be required (approximately 10%), including during evening and weekends, depending on mission and assignment.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required, or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
