Job Specifics
Duties Description The Program Aide in Region 4’s Division of Environmental Remediation provides clerical and administrative support to the Spill Response, Bulk Storage, and Remediation sections. The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
1.Become familiar with each of the above programs and become proficient in related clerical and administrative tasks;
2.Be proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and become proficient with DER databases and filing and tracking systems;
3.Assist staff with filing hardcopy and electronic correspondence and submittals while monitoring and maintaining consistent and standardized recordkeeping routines;
4.Assist staff with the review and processing of applications and other submittals;
5.Assist staff in preparing regional correspondence and reports using established templates and databases;
6.Assist staff with tracking program-related compliance schedules and enforcement activities;
7.Provide general information and assistance to the public and the regulated community;
8.Develop and use spreadsheets to track programs’ spending, training programs, supplies, vehicles, and equipment;
9.Evaluate and create systems and processes to improve the programs’ organization and efficiency;
10.Support the programs’ timely response to Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests and similar requests from the State Comptroller and Attorney General related to cost recovery activities; and
11.Perform special projects and assignments as needed, which may require overtime and/or travel on an occasional basis.
Minimum Qualifications COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC
or
Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
or
Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 11 or higher and:
Transfer eligible under Section 70.1 - permanent competitive service as an Accountant Aide, Accountant Aide Trainee 2, Business Document Specialist 2, Stores & Mail Operations Supervisor, Principal Mail and Supply Clerk, Principal Offset Print Machine Operator, Principal Stores Clerk, Program Aide, Administrative Assistant 1.
Additional titles SG 11 or higher which qualify can be found on the Department of Civil Service website, search "GOT-IT".
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Overtime may be required.
Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.
