Job Specifics
Duties Description Assist in managing and configuring virtual environments, enhancing remote accessibility and performance. Deploy and maintain application deployment tools, ensuring seamless software distribution and updates. Monitor IT infrastructure using advanced tools, proactively addressing and resolving any issues. Work closely with various teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems. Fulfill oversight/management tasks related to helpdesk operations, working closely with end-user support staff; maintain call log, track requests, resolutions, time to resolution, time spent on requests and code classification to trend request types and user patterns.
Performs installation, administration, testing, and maintenance of hardware/infrastructure:
• Assist the technical group on information technology projects.
• Collects information needed for new hardware/software installations or modifications to existing configurations, including all necessary support.
• Runs diagnostic software to ensure that equipment operates properly and takes appropriate corrective action when required.
• Installs and configures hospital standard software, ensuring that the configuration meets system requirements.
• Ensures repair and preventative maintenance procedures are followed for the hospital’s desktops, faxes, and printers.
Minimum Qualifications HELPS: Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program an Information Technologist Specialist 3 (Data Communications) requires Five years of experience in networking and/or telecommunications. the networking and/or telecommunications experience must have involved the design, analysis, capacity planning, monitoring, performance evaluation, and/or tuning of a data communications/telecommunications network.
Substitution - A bachelor's degree in any field including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in networking and/or telecommunications and two years of experience in networking and/or telecommunications; or a bachelor's or higher level degree in any field and three years of experience in networking and/or telecommunications; or an associate degree with 15 semester credit hours in networking and/or telecommunications and four years of experience in networking and/or telecommunications.
Transfers: Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service that is eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 and or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law to Information Technologist Specialist 3.
Preferred Qualifications: • 5 years of experience in desktop support in a networked environment
• Excellent knowledge of network architecture and terminology.
• Experience in installing, using, maintaining, and providing customer support using workstation tools, including office automation tools, email, and remote-control software.
• Operational knowledge of telecom systems, including Private Branch Exchange (PBX) systems.
• 2 years of experience in virtual infrastructure, including Nutanix, VMware, Citrix, and Hyper-V.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and oral communications. The candidate must be able to work effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, including installing, using, maintaining, and providing user support.
• Excellent organizational skills.

To be eligible, candidates must be an employee of the Department of Health and have one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2, Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming), or Supervising Computer Operator.
The posted salary range ($90,682 - $113,650) includes $4,000 of downstate adjustment.
