Minimum Qualifications Promotion: Candidates must have one year of permanent or contingent/permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c New York State service as a Social Work Assistant 3 or Social Work Assistant 3 (Spanish Language); OR reachable for appointment from the Civil Service List; OR eligible for a 70.1 transfer.

Open Competitive: Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Social Work; OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and one year of post-Bachelors experience in social work; OR a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a human service area and two years of post-Bachelors experience in social work.

Duties Description This position is essential to the Core Mission of OPWDD. The Social Work Assistant 3 staff will be a member of the Family Support Services (FSS) team. The Manhattan Family Support Services consist of crisis intervention, respite, parent training, family reimbursement, non-Medicaid Service Coordination and other vital FSS programs. These programs assist families in obtaining eligibility for other OPWDD services and enable families to care for their developmentally disabled child or relative at home. Job duties will include but are not limited to the following:

• Oversee 100 contracts and waiver services for Family Support Services providing services to approximately 4,000 Manhattan individuals/families

• Evaluate FSS and waiver programs – site visits

• Write evaluation reports

• Review and process programmatic and fiscal quarterly reports

• Provide technical assistance to agencies/programs

• Provide training to agencies/programs

• Re-negotiate programs/contracts

• Participate on the proposal review committee

• Oversee program rosters

• Manage CHOICES system

• Review and enter enrollment paperwork/packages

• Attend FSS meetings

• Attend Family Support Council meetings
