Job Specifics
Duties Description While working in a role created by the Federal court, the incumbent's responsibilities will include but not be limited to: participate in annual, semiannual and other designated team meetings while acting “in loco parentis” for Willowbrook Class Members not represented by parents, relatives or guardians as well as those who have requested representation; additional responsibilities will include evaluating individuals' needs and interests; as well as medical health care services and treatment, and social/leisure support services. The incumbent will participate in the placement planning process and evaluate the appropriateness of proposed residential setting, and educational/vocational program services The incumbent will also monitor protection from harm, the quality of ongoing service provisions for individuals, assist local parent advisory groups in fulfilling their responsibilities, participate in community and parent education programs, and establish and maintain contact with local parent/consumer organizations.

Minimum Qualifications To qualify, the incumbent must have a bachelor's degree in a human services field and must demonstrate at least three years' experience working with and for persons with developmental disabilities.
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of the Willowbrook Permanent Injunction as well as possess knowledge of current service provisions including OPWDD regulations, applicable federal regulations and care coordination entities. The incumbent must know the nature, needs and rights of persons with developmental disabilities; be familiar with normalization as a practice; have knowledge of community resources, services and programs; understand group dynamics; have experience with or knowledge of voluntary associations as well as OPWDD services; and have knowledge and skills in monitoring and evaluating programs.
Candidates must also be available for evening and weekend work.
*This position will require travel between counties and will average around 60%-70% travel.
NOTE: The position is NS (Non-Statutory) equated to G-18. Familiarity with the Willowbrook Permanent Injunction preferred.
Additional Comments • If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee.
• The assignment of PS&T employees will be made in accordance with any agreed upon Memorandum of Understanding between PEF and the local DDSO regarding the posting of job vacancies.

• All OPWDD employees must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Continued employment will depend on maintaining eligibility.

The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments have been made under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer.
