Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Open to New York State employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming), G-18; OR employees who are in a position at G-16 or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two grades.
Candidates reachable on the eligible list for this title will be considered through a canvass and do not need to apply.
Preferred Qualifications are:
• Experience in developing web sites using HTML 4/5, CSS/CSS3, JQuery and JavaScript
• Experience in developing graphics in Fireworks or Photoshop
• Experience in using Adobe Dreamweaver development tools
• Knowledge of W3C coding standards and 508 accessibility standards
• Knowledge of cross browser support and development
• Knowledge of mobile web frameworks and responsive design
• Experience in customer support and services
• Excellent communications skills
• Willingness to learn new platforms and web development skills
Experience in Drupal and Classroom instruction is a plus but not required.
Duties Description This position is within the Transportation and Economic Development Cluster in the Solutions Architecture and Shared Services Bureau and Web Central Unit Section. The incumbent will assist in providing customer support for content providers and will be involved with web development activities supporting several agencies and web initiatives.
Illustrative duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Support and respond to customer's web site needs in a timely manner
• Create Web pages & perform maintenance
• Grant access to pages
• Design graphics and provide assistance
• Conduct ADA review and approval of pages and content
• Conduct usability review and recommendations
• Provide analytics reports and page counts
• Perform video posting and formatting
• Address email requests, incident and change service center tickets
• Create and maintain accurate and quality documentation for users
• Explore and learn new Web technologies and platforms
The candidate must be motivated and able to work independently; work with customers to educate and assist Web content providers; be willing to explore new web technologies and obtain knowledge of these technologies be willing to learn new platforms; and be responsive to web development and mobile application development.
