Job Specifics

Duties Description Audit Leadership & Supervision: Work with management to identify and plan audit areas, gathering and analyzing data on providers, billings, and rates. Direct the full audit process to ensure accurate, timely fieldwork and complete electronic audit files. Supervise staff and review disallowances, memos, work papers, and audit reports for clarity, accuracy, and compliance with protocols. Conduct entrance and exit conferences, review schedules and spreadsheets to document audits and findings, prepare correspondence and reports, act as liaison between OMIG and auditees, summarize audit results, and assemble audit reports for recovery of overpayments.

Supervision & Development: Assign work, approve leave, evaluate performance, and mentor staff while providing technical guidance and training. Collaborate with management to recommend audit referrals, investigations, administrative actions, or policy changes. Serve as liaison with providers and management, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with OMIG policies and standards.

Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a pharmacy subject-matter expert by researching and assessing emerging regulations, federal and state initiatives, and new processes to evaluate their impact on program integrity. Execute audit reviews, develop and update protocols, guidance, and procedures, advise audit teams, and adapt practices to evolving requirements.

Minimum Qualifications To be eligible for appointment, candidates must be reachable on the OMIG promotional list for Medicaid Integrity Specialist 2 (Financial Analysis) OR be a current New York State employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent services in a title deemed eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Medicaid or healthcare auditing, pharmacy program integrity, or financial analysis. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply federal and state regulations, analyze complex billing and claims data, and prepare audit reports. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with providers and management. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and PADS is preferred.
