Job Specifics

Duties Description The New York State Department of Financial Services seeks to build an equitable, transparent, and resilient financial system that benefits individuals and supports business. The Department of Financial Services (DFS) is seeking candidates for the position of Information Technology Specialist 3 (Windows Infrastructure Services) in Technology Bureau. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Performs daily health checks and maintenance of Active Directory across multiple domains, manage user provisioning, access control, and directory structure in accordance with agency policies, and monitor replication and resolve directory service issues to ensure continuity of operations;
• Designs, implements, and maintains Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security and configuration standards, collaborate with security teams to align GPOs with compliance frameworks, maintain documentation and change logs for audit readiness;
• Administers Windows Server environments including patching, upgrades, and performance tuning, ensure systems meet uptime and availability requirements for mission-critical applications, participate in disaster recovery planning and execution; and
• Configures and maintains DNS zones, records, and DHCP scopes, troubleshoots name resolution and IP assignment issues across agency networks, support network segmentation and address management in coordination with network operations.

Minimum Qualifications This position is to be filled by Selective Certification. The education and skill requirements are:

• An Associates or higher-level degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Telecommunications, Management Information Systems, or Computer Engineering
• At least two to five years of experience with MS Active Directory
• At least two to five years of experience with Windows Server OS
• At least two to five years of experience with MS Systems Management Tools
Or
• Current or former MS Certified Professional Certification
• At least two to five years of experience with MS Active Directory
• At least two to five years of experience with Windows Server OS
• At least two to five years of experience with MS Systems Management Tools

Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a title eligible for transfer via Sections 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. Please Note that under Civil Service Law, an employee cannot have two consecutive upward 70.1 or 52.6 transfers without an intervening eligible list appointment if such transfers would exceed two salary grades.
