Job Specifics

Duties Description Pilgrim Psychiatric Center is recruiting to Physical Therapy Assistant to deliver physical therapy treatment, under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside and within in State Service can apply.

Duties Descriptions:
As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will assist individuals restore, maintain, and improve physical movement and function including:
• Examining and evaluating individuals’ condition
• Performing and interpreting tests to assess individuals’ movement related issues
• Developing and implementing individual physical therapy treatment plans including treatment goals
• Observing and recording individuals’ progress and modifies treatment plans as needed

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they are certified and currently registered to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in New York State.

OR

Candidates from within State service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Additional Comments:
This position is eligible for a down state adjustment of $4,000.
