Job Specifics
Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is recruiting to fill a Maintenance Supervisor 1, G-14, position within the Bureau of Environmental Design & Improvement located in New York City. This position will serve as the supervisor for the New York City Revite team that travels between facilities within the New York City area performing special project renovations, ongoing maintenance, small repair, and environmental improvement projects. This region includes Staten Island, Bronx, and Manhattan (including Wards Island).
Specific duties to be performed may include, but are not limited to the following:
• Coordinate and provide technical direction to Revite team members who may be responsible for electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and other tasks as needed.
• Monitor work quality and productivity of all assigned trades generalists, maintenance assistants and/or facility operations assistants.
• Provide supervisory functions, including preparing team work schedules, conducting inventory, and providing payroll and daily team reports. Will be responsible for monitoring attendance and work quality and ensuring that the team has sufficient resources to achieve its goals.
• Recommend budget requirements for the facility’s maintenance programs including staffing, materials and equipment needs.
• Prepare material cost estimates; order and inventory materials and equipment as needed.
• Respond and provide guidance during emergency evacuations, flooding and storm damage and other types of emergencies as needed.
• Possess a working knowledge of local and NYS building codes as well as the knowledge of methods and materials of the construction trades.
• Ensure safety procedures and life/safety protocols are followed by team members at all times.
• Establish and maintain a good communication network with facility contact and administration, team members, and Central Office administration.
Minimum Qualifications One year of trade experience subsequent to the completion of an apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience such as that required for:
• Construction Equipment Mechanic.
• Grounds Construction Supervisor.
• Service & Repair Mechanic with any of the following parenthetic: Electronics, Motor Equipment, or HVAC-R.
• Trades Generalist.
• Trades Specialist with any of the following parenthetic: Carpenter, Electrician, Locksmith, Machinist, Mason & Plasterer, Painter, Plumber & Steamfitter, Roofing, or Welder
Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license is preferred, but not required, for this position.
Additional Comments
This position is eligible for the Downstate Adjustment of $4,000.
Candidates are not eligible for reimbursement of travel costs.
