Job Specifics
Duties Description -Will be required to operator equipment including skid steers, tractors, plow trucks, loaders, chippers, stump grinders and other machines.
- Must complete manual and semi skilled work in various DEC facilities. (work assignments will include cleaning of toilets / bathroom facilities, building of outhouses and picnic tables, winter roof shoveling, minor carpentry, roofing, painting, minor plumbing, equipment operation, chainsaw operation, maintaining roads, grounds and facilities, lifting garbage cans chest high, using rakes and shovels and various hand tools.)
- Must be able to follow written and or oral instructions to complete projects.
- Will be required to operate a personal computer.
- Must be well groomed, wear issued uniform, as well as proper safety PPE. Issued clothing and safety gear must be kept clean and presentable.
- Must be flexible with your schedule and assignments and be able to change easily and efficiently from task to task.
Minimum Qualifications One year of service as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 or Motor Vehicle Operator; OR, two years of full-time, verifiable experience in custodial, grounds, or maintenance operation or assisting in a journey-level trade. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license. Possession of a Class B CDL is preferred but not required.
Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2026, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.
Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.
Must be able to work in remote areas.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Overtime may be required.
Overnight travel may be required.
Weekends and holidays may be required.
Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies.
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
