Job Specifics
Duties Description Western New York Children's Psychiatric Center is currently recruiting a Speech Language Pathologist to provide speech therapy treatment services to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will work with individuals to achieve the best physical, cognitive, and mental functioning in daily life skills including:
• Conducting evaluations and assessments to determine individuals’ capabilities and needs in areas of strength, functional mobility, and self-care skills
• Making recommendations on treatment based on evaluation results
• Observing and reporting individuals’ progress, response, and behavior
• Supervising individual and group speech therapy activities
• Trains staff in choking prevention, dysphagia, aspiration, and communication.
Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Speech Language Pathologist if you are licensed and current registered as a Speech Language Pathologist in New York or are certified in Speech Language Pathology by ASHA..
OR
Candidates within State Service can be considered transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

This is a temporary/hourly position.

If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.
