Job Specifics
Duties Description Pilgrim Psychiatric Center (PPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting a Board-Certified Psychiatrist.
PPC provides comprehensive care that is community-based and occurs in the individual’s home. The goal of the ACT team is to maintain care to the individual in their natural environment and reduce demand on emergency departments and inpatient hospital services.
The Psychiatrist will:
• Train and supervise residents in safe and appropriate administration of psychiatric care
• Provide primary psychiatric care to patients
• Respond to urgent or emergency clinical issues
• Collaborate with other health care professionals to achieve treatment goals and ensure continuity and quality of care
• Assess and refer individuals for admission, transfer, discharge, and further treatment
• Review and maintain medical records and documentation consistent with facility, agency, State, and federal guidelines
• Serve as members of a multidisciplinary treatment team
• Monitor assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) patients and respond to AOT orders
• Provide Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment
Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they have:
Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.
OR
Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
*Limited permit option: If you are licensed in another state or by written examination in Canada, AND meet the other requirements for Psychiatrist 1 or 2, you are also eligible if you have a current limited permit to practice medicine in New York State. If appointed, you must obtain your license within one year of the date your limited was issued. Failure to do so will result in removal from your position.
Additional Comments Psychiatrists at OMH facilities are eligible for:
• Psychiatrist Loan Repayment Program offering up to $120,000
• Supplemental income of up to 50% of salary by volunteering to provide evening, night, and weekend coverage

Additional Comments:
This position is eligible for a down state adjustment of $4,000.

If appointed you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.
3. Continued employment as a Psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2 is dependent upon current licensure to practice medicine and in the case of Psychiatrist 1 or Psychiatrist 2, current certification in child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Loss of licensure and certification may result in removal from this position.
