Job Specifics
Duties Description This position reports to the Senior Director of Enrollment Operations and manages the Enrollment Advisor team that processes key centralized functions for SUNY System Administration, including Centralized Financial Verification for the Educational Opportunities Program and admissions processing for the SUNY Top 10% Promise and pending Universal Guaranteed Admission. The Director works collaboratively with Enrollment Management and EOP offices to ensure strong student services, efficient and effective processing, and timely communications with students, counselors, and SUNY campuses. The Director is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the efficient processing and operation of Enrollment Management related functions including:
- Direct management responsibility for a team of Enrollment Advisors performing critical functions. Ensures unit coverage, schedules, etc.
- Develop and maintain detailed unit procedures and best practices that support the timely and effective processing of the unit.
- Oversee the timely response/communication to and from applicants, high school counselors, and System/campus admission offices related to Enrollment functions of the Enrollment Advisor team.
- Articulates SUNY EOP and Admissions policies and requirements to students, families, and counselors.
- Respond to various campus and internal requests for information.
- Oversee the data entry of academic criteria from transcripts and related documents as required. Independently review records elevated for specific criteria and determine logical and consistent solutions. Serve as initial point of contact and expert for this work.
- Oversee and perform the review of student financial documentation for Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) consideration. Serve as initial point of contact and expert for this work.
- Oversee and perform phone and email outreach to students and families for outstanding required documentation, which may include scheduling of virtual appointments.
- Maintain adherence to various SUNY policies (EOP, fees, waivers, etc.).
- Maintain adherence to security procedures and controls so that applicant personal information (PII) is protected.
- Help coordinate related initiative activities within Enrollment Management, OIT (EM) and the Office of Student Success.
Collaborate closely with other EM stakeholders on policies, procedures, and technologies. Maintenance, testing, and quality assurance of related processing technologies.
- Ensure proper maintenance of records and help create necessary reporting structures for unit work.
- Maintain familiarity with various unit initiatives, including Top 10% Promise, EOP Financial Eligibility Determination, and SUNY Match.
- Attends professional meetings and conferences as required.
- Implements solutions to identified problems and directs resources to changing priorities.
- Oversee the hiring, training, and career development of Enrollment Advisor staff, including potentially both permanent and seasonal employees. Determine proper staffing levels.
- Participate in research, evaluation, and feedback (both internal and external) of various initiatives and create/implement solutions/enhancements as determined necessary.
Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, with at least three years of management and supervisory experience in a complex organization
- General experience in Enrollment Management, Admissions, and Financial Aid or related areas
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite - in particular, Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability and desire to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, high-pressure environment
- Ability to be flexible as needs shift through the academic year
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory and/or Management experience in a unionized environment
- Experience in a high-volume processing operation
- Experience in higher education and/or NY State government
- Experience with call/contact center or related customer service experience
- Experience with data reporting and transition/enhancement of computer systems
- Experience with Oracle web-based applications and portals
- Ability to analyze the components of a problem and develop logical solutions
- Basic federal tax knowledge
- Basic knowledge of interpreting public assistance documentation
- Ability to be empathetic and express patience with students and families who are trying to gather difficult documentation
- Graduate degree
Additional Comments - Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $94,000-$105,000 annually.
- State Title: Director (Grade MP3) and is a Management Confidential position.
