Job Specifics
Duties Description The New York State Council on Developmental Disabilities' (CDD) awards grant contracts to various entities to test and implement innovative ideas, models, and programs that support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families to thrive in their communities across New York State.
Primary Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
· Develop content and schedule posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
· Develop content for and schedule bi-weekly announcements and monthly newsletter
· Assist with updates to agency website
· Tabling at conferences or other events
· Take minutes at agency meetings
· Assist with in-house video projects
· Assist with the development of a 5-year strategic plan
· Special Projects as Needed
All CDD interns should expect to become integral members of our team. Interns play a critical role in the agency's accomplishments and project successes. Interns gain experience in state contracting processes, grant development and implementation, and have a multitude of opportunities to network with a diverse set of stakeholders (other state agencies, provider agencies, self-advocates/advocacy groups, and federal partners and policymakers.)
The CDD is looking for candidates that are comfortable working both collaboratively and independently on diverse initiatives and tasks, including but not limited to, research, internal-processes, public relations and communications, contracting, grant implementation, as well as, participation and attendance at council meetings, conferences, and community outreach and tabling events throughout New York State.

Minimum Qualifications A current Graduate Student in one of the following degree concentrations: Business Administration, Communication Studies, Human Services, Public Administration, Social Science, Social Work.
Preferred experience - Communications/Public Relations, Human Services, Planning/Analysis/Research, Public Policy.
Candidates must be current Graduate Students at an education institution accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States (U.S.) Department of Education/Secretary of Education.
Additional Comments • If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee.
• The assignment of PS&T employees will be made in accordance with any agreed upon Memorandum of Understanding between PEF and the local DDSO regarding the posting of job vacancies.
• Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures. If you are being impacted by closure, please indicate this on your resume.
• All OPWDD employees must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Continued employment will depend on maintaining eligibility.
• If you are employed by state government you may be able to receive loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF). The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments have been made under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer. • Paid Parental Leave:
Paid Parental Leave allows eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of paid leave at full pay for each qualifying event. A qualifying event is defined as the birth of a child or placement of a child for adoption or foster care.
