Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have permanent status as an Agency Program Aide, Grade 13, and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Section 70.1 allows a permanent, competitive class employee, who has at least one year of permanent service in an appropriate title. Questions concerning transfer eligibility can be directed to OMHHRM@OMH.NY.GOV. Candidates with experience working in a criminal justice or law enforcement agency are encouraged to apply.
Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is recruiting a qualified State employee to fill the position of Agency Program Aide 1, Grade 13, in the Division of Forensic Services (DFS), Bureau of Statewide Pre-Release Services.
Duties to be performed may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Advise Statewide Pre-Release Coordinator and senior management on discharge planning, bureau workflows and assist with revising policies and procedures.
• Make decisions related to pre-release services, including but not limited to decisions confirming release dates, and assessing/identifying inmates-patients that meet the violence threshold.
• Receive and review all records to ensure all clinically-relevant materials are received prior to inmate-patient’s release.
• Interact in person and by telephone with various state and local municipalities, county jails, police departments, forensic hospitals and medical and program directors and local housing provides.
• Ensure all housing applications are submitted for appropriately identified inmates-patients who are being transitioned back into the community.
Additional Comments The Division of Forensic Services is conveniently located on the grounds of the Capital District Psychiatric Center at 75 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, New York. We offer a comfortable working environment with covered parking available on site for a nominal monthly fee.
