Duties Description Under the general direction of the Director Nursing (DON) 3 Long Term Care, the Assistant Director Nursing 1 Long Term Care shall assist in the development of the philosophy, goals and long-range plans of the Nursing Services Department. The Assistant Director Nursing 1 Long Term Care will assess the quality of resident care and determine daily staffing, equipment, supplies and makes necessary adjustments to meet the needs of the residents. The Assistant Director Nursing 1 Long Term Care assists the DON in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures that ensure compliance with federal and state codes, rules and regulations; assist in the preparation of the nursing department budgets, and analysis of reports concerning expenditures as it relates to staff, supplies and equipment. The incumbent works collaboratively with the Inservice Education Coordinator and CQI/ICF Nurse in the daily supervision, monitoring, and management of resident care; responsible for the coordination of resident care and standards of nursing practices in the absence of the DON; assumes administrative responsibility for the Nursing Depart; participates in the comprehensive care planning process to promote optimum level of resident care; coordinates and monitors the management of nursing care provided to residents. The Assistant Director Nursing 1 Long Term Care will review the 24-hour reports on a daily basis in order to identify resident concerns and needs; will review and investigate complaints and grievances made by nursing department personnel, resident and family; monitors and provides systems to prevent incidents and accidents to residents, employees and visitors. The Assistant Director Nursing 1 Long Term Care also participates in and services on various committees of the Home as requested including CQI, safety and infection control; assists in the recruitment and retention of nursing personnel; facilitates effective communication among nursing personnel on a 24-hour basis; and provides leadership to Nurse Managers for the purpose of assisting them in professional growth and development.
Minimum Qualifications Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position allocated to Grade 23 or above, and that is eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law to Assistant Director Nursing 1 Long Term Care and possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
Open Competitive HELPS qualifications: Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State and four years of post-licensure professional clinical nursing experience in a long-term care setting. One year of the experience must have been at a supervisory level.
Substitution: An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of experience; a master’s degree may substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate may substitute for six years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with geriatric population.

The posted salary range ($149,147 - $157,388) includes an increased hiring salary for MC for the amount of $16,4888, a geographic pay differential of $35,000 and a downstate adjustment of $4,000.
Inconvenience pay program of $575 per year will be paid to employees who work four (4) hours or more between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Hours worked between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on an overtime basis are not included for Inconvenience Pay. There is an additional Shift differential of 7% for evening shift and 10% for Night shift.
