Job Specifics
Duties Description The State University of New York (SUNY) seeks a full-time Digital Content Creator to join the marketing team in the SUNY System Administration Office of Press and Communications. The Digital Content Creator will help develop a wide range of paid and organic marketing content, with an emphasis on engaging copy writing, graphics, and short-form video, to better reach potential SUNY students and other key audiences.
We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about marketing and social media and savvy in leveraging trends and emerging platforms to tell our story. This position will report to the Director of Strategic Marketing and work closely with colleagues across Press and Communications, as well as other departments and campuses, to create and curate multimedia content for SUNY's digital platforms.
This position is based in Albany and may require occasional travel to SUNY campuses across New York State.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Write and edit engaging, on-brand ad copy for SUNY marketing campaigns across a range of channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Google, YouTube, streaming video, and others
- Research and write blog and web content to support SUNY's content marketing strategy
- Produce multimedia content, particularly graphics and short-form video, for SUNY's marketing campaigns in collaboration with colleagues in the Office of Press and Communications
- Produce high-quality content on deadline, sometimes with quick turnarounds in a fast-paced environment
- Assist with content curation and coordination with departments across SUNY System Administration as well as campuses
- Travel to campuses and other sites throughout New York State as needed to produce videos
- Research emerging marketing and social media trends to recommend new approaches
- Assist with SEO research to inform content marketing strategy
- Contribute proactively to creative brainstorming sessions and discussions
- Assist with responding to comments on social media ads
Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, English, journalism, or related field
- Minimum two years' experience producing content for marketing campaigns, social media, or other digital platforms as part of a team or organization, with associated work samples
- Thorough knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and best practices
- Basic knowledge of graphic design tools like Adobe, Canva, Figma, or similar
- Excellent writing skills

- Willingness to collaborate across departments, try new things, and pitch ideas

Additional Comments Additional Information:
- Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $54,000-$62,000 annually.
- The state title for this position is Staff Assistant (SL-2) and is part of the United University Professions Union.
