Job Specifics
Duties Description The Office Assistant 1 will serve as a scheduler, preparing daily, weekly, and monthly schedules. They will assist in maintaining and managing adequate staffing, resolving scheduling conflicts, and managing adjustments. Responsibilities include managing call-offs and par levels, as well as tracking, documenting, and updating schedule changes. Additionally, the Office Assistant 1 will track vacation, sick time off requests, FMLA usage, and other leaves.
The Office Assistant 1 will ensure Nursing timecards are accurate and submitted on time. They will also coordinate with nurse educators to ensure staff attend required training to maintain compliance with policy, mandates, and procedures, acting as a liaison between staff and administration.
Minimum Qualifications Transfers: Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to Office Assistant 1. If less than three interested and qualified New York State Department of Health employees serving in the direct-line, lower-level title(s) within the agency apply to this opportunity, the agency may make a non-competitive appointment under the NY HELPS program.
Open Competitive HELPS qualifications: There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this title.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will possess computer literacy, be proficient in Word, Excel, and LATS, and have excellent communication skills.

The posted salary range ($40,232 - $48,828 equated to Salary Grade 6) includes $4,000 of Downstate Adjustment.
